Travel the streets of downtown Buenos Aires with our guide, in addition to visiting the two most important cultural icons of Buenos Aires: The imposing Teatro Colón, the lyrical jewel of Latin America and the beautiful MALBA, a modern avant-garde art museum.
Our Walking Tour begins at our offices located in the heart of the San Telmo neighborhood. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and has a vibrant scene of tango and arts. We will take Defensa Street in the south, to visit the antique markets, and observe the characteristic architecture, highlighting the street lighting (known as “lanterns”), cobblestones, old buildings and period decoration.
Then we will walk two blocks until we reach the southern end of Puerto Madero, where we will cross the dike and walk along the opposite shore of the city. This neighborhood is the most modern in the city and is composed of skyscrapers and exclusive restaurants and hotels.
We will continue to the historic Plaza de Mayo, here we can visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and observe the Cabildo, colonial City Hall; and the Casa Rosada, the seat of executive power. Our guide will tell us about the many historical and social events that happened in this place.
On the other side of the Plaza, we will take Diagonal Norte and arrive at the famous Obelisco de Buenos Aires, icon of the city, located in the center of Avenida 9 de Julio, the widest in the world. We will cross this avenue and we will continue walking for it, after two blocks, arriving at the Teatro Colón. This opera theater is considered one of the five best in the world for its size, acoustics and trajectory.
We enter the theater where we will meet with our guide and a small group of visitors. From there we will visit the Hall, the Main Foyer, the Bustos Gallery and the Golden Hall, visitors will be able to absorb amazing details about the architecture, the stairs, the sculptures, ceilings or vitreaux. After 50 minutes of visit, we will board a bus (public bus) to travel to the Palermo neighborhood, where the MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires) is located.
This museum was founded in September 2001 with the aim of collecting, preserving, studying and disseminating Latin American art from the beginning of the 20th century up to the present, exhibiting a heritage of approximately 400 works by the main modern and contemporary artists of the region.
The tour ends with the entrance to the Museum, which is included, and where you will have the opportunity to visit it at your own pace, taking the time to observe each room and the different exhibitions.
The tour starts at 10:30 am in San Telmo and ends at 3:30 pm in the MALBA.
