On the outside, the Tropenmuseum is an impressive Dutch brick building. Inside contains the whole world! Located in the innovative east of Amsterdam, this museum uses artifacts from around the planet to challenge its visitors to think about the world around them.
The Tropenmuseum is dedicated to the enormous cultural diversity that enriches the world. Exhibitions about cultures around the world show us that, despite cultural differences, we have many things in common. In particular, children love to investigate lives very different from their own.
The Tropenmuseum is located on the edge of the Oosterpark, a stone’s throw from some of Amsterdam’s most fashionable bars and cafes. As it is a bit out of the tourist area, the visit is relatively relaxed.
An extensive cultural program with music, talks, workshops and guided tours during weekends and holidays, guarantees that every day is different in the Tropenmuseum.
