The world has progressed fortunately, but the ideologies that divided the world during most of the 20th century can still be seen in Berlin. Asisi Panorama: Die Mauer (the wall) allows you to step back in time until 1980 in Berlin, and experience the feeling of living in the shadow of the Berlin wall. Skip the line for this popular attraction and walk over the wall. Discover this surreal city, divided in two by a cement barrier.
Enter the construction at the infamous Checkpoint Charlie, and enter the Asisi Panorama: Die Mauer(the wall). This exhibition, from the work of the artist Yadegar Asisi, puts you in the center of Berlin in 1980.
Specifically, you will be 5 meters behind the western side of the infamous Berlin wall, 4 meters high, being able to see East Berlin. You can see how life was different in the East, a stone’s throw from wherever you are. The use of sophisticated lighting gives the feeling of being day, as circumstances change, day becomes night, under the watchful eye of watchtowers.
When the wall fell in November 1989, it was accompanied by moments of euphoria. One of the rooms is dedicated to that moment, so you can also experience joy – not only for the creation of a new city – but also for the end of the Cold War.
