Look up “baroque majesty” in the dictionary and you will find a photo of the Belvedere Palace. The Belvedere is a whirlwind of architectural beauty, timeless art, and gorgeous gardens that frame the Viennese skyline, making a visit a must for culture lovers seeking the magic of Vienna. See The Kiss by Gustav Klimt, one of the world’s most iconic paintings, as well as many other priceless treasures.
The Belvedere Palace is divided into two buildings, the Upper Belvedere and the Lower Belvedere, separated by a spectacular courtyard of beautiful gardens.
Depending on the time you have, you can choose a ticket to see one of the buildings or both. Or choose a full ticket and satisfy your appetite for world art with the all-inclusive Belvedere ticket, which includes the nearby Belvedere 21 Museum of Contemporary Art.
The highlight is the collection of masterpieces from the Middle Ages and the Baroque. The collection of 19th and 20th century art includes Impressionist works by Monet, Van Gogh and the largest collection by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt (which includes his famous The Kiss).
Among the highlights is the spectacular two-story Marble Room, with oval plaster medallions representing the god Apollo. The Marble Gallery houses ancient and baroque sculptures. And the Hall of Grotesques features bloody and evocative paintings that you won’t easily forget.
