The origin of the rickshaw is not entirely clear, but the widely accepted history of these world-famous vehicles begins in Japan. The word rickshaw comes from the Japanese word jinrikisha, which means “human-powered vehicle.”

Make your trip to Japan a unique experience with a ride in a traditional rickshaw through Arashiyama. From houses to monuments, to hidden secrets and some of the best photo stops, we don’t know what you’re waiting for to explore this famous haven for imperial and noble families.

Ticket Exchange:

Show your smartphone ticket to the driver / guide at the meeting point, right in front of Arashiyama Yoshimura restaurant, on the north side of Togetsu Bridge


Every day at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00


  • 30-, 60-, or 90-minute rickshaw tour (depending on option chosen) with an expert driver-guide

Not included:

  • Transportation to and from the hotel


Staff will help you get on and off the rickshaw. Lightweight, folding wheelchairs can be transported by rickshaw or shipped separately to your final destination

Cancellation Policy:

It can be canceled up to 24 hours before the day of the visit.
