Located in the mitte neighborhood in the heart of the city, this is the great green lung of Berlin. It is the oldest park in the German capital, initially it was the hunting grounds of the realizes and then opened to the public. In the times of the wall, this was the great public park of communist Berlin. This large public space on the banks of the River Spree has large forests and places of great historical interest such as the monument to Soviet soldiers who participated in World War II or the old abandoned amusement park of Spreepark, an ideal place for lovers of urban exploration.
Located near the famous Alexanderplatz, this Berlin park has a large number of monuments, sculptures and magnificent fountains. Here you will see large green areas and spaces for barbecue. In addition at one of its ends is a large artificial hill which hides inside the remains of an old bunker from the Second World War, the Großer Bunkerberg.
Humboldthain is a unique place for history history lovers. This urban park was built from the rubble of two bunkers after the War. Here you can not only walk its trails, but also practice sport climbing on the big wall of the bunker, or take a swim in the pool with its slide rebuilt from the ruins. All this in addition to obtaining an incredible view from its old air defense tower.
This old airport, located just 5 kilometers from the city center, closed its doors in 2008 and two years later became one of the largest public parks in Germany. Its old airstrip is nowadays an ideal place for cycling, kitesurfing, rollerblading, kite riding or just jogging. Also during the summer weekend this park is the favorite of Berliners to make barbecues with their typical grilled sausages.
